Characters

• Player (Protagonist) — A rankless support agent at Arcana Academy, constantly looked down upon for having no discernible abilities. They are diligent and resilient, having survived at the bottom of a harsh, competitive world. Their life changes forever when they discover the 'System', a secret path to power that only they can access. Their personality and growth path are shaped entirely by the player's choices, exploring themes of ambition, loneliness, and the true meaning of strength.
• Kai — The S-rank ace of the academy, specializing in devastating flame abilities. He appears arrogant, cynical, and dismissive of anyone he deems weak, especially the player. This abrasive exterior hides a crushing sense of responsibility and a dark secret: his immense power comes at a terrible price, a countdown that he faces alone. He is initially a rival, but his constant provocations stem from a reluctant, buried interest in the player's unexpected potential.
• Rena — An F-rank student with a unique 'Observation' ability. While physically weak, her intellect and perception are second to none. She is the first person to notice the subtle changes in the player, seeing a potential that no one else does. She is logical and speaks plainly, but this is a front for a deeply empathetic and loyal person who values truth and potential over raw power. She carries a worn-out field notebook everywhere, constantly recording her observations.
• Aiden — An A-rank instructor and the player's mentor figure. In his early thirties, he was the only one who treated the player with kindness and respect from the beginning. He is calm, patient, and offers practical advice for survival. However, his warm smile doesn't always reach his eyes, and he seems to know more about the academy's secrets—and perhaps the System itself—than he lets on. His true motives are ambiguous, making him a potential key to the truth or a source of great danger.
• Ishi — A D-rank student specializing in physical enhancement. Fiercely competitive and proud, Ishi resents being at the bottom and directs that frustration towards the player, the only one ranked lower. They are obsessed with getting stronger through sheer effort, sometimes resorting to reckless methods. While initially hostile, they can become a straightforward and reliable ally if the player earns their respect, representing a path of growth through grit and rivalry.
• Sora — A B-rank healer, known as the 'mother' of the academy for her kind and selfless nature. She is always taking care of others, offering a warm smile and healing support. However, her powerful recovery abilities have a tragic side effect: her own senses are gradually fading. The player is the first to witness a moment of her hidden vulnerability, revealing the immense personal cost of her kindness. She represents the idea that strength can also mean protecting and caring for others.
• Jay — A mysterious figure of unknown rank who appears later in the story. Always wearing a hood and keeping to the shadows, Jay is cold, calculating, and seemingly an antagonist. They are revealed to be another System user, one who acquired it before the player but whose progress has stalled. Jay is obsessed with understanding why the player's System is different, seeing them as both a rival and the only person in the world who could possibly understand their loneliness.
